IGPRC2024 Information & Updates

Following on from the great success of the first two editions of the InSPiR2eS Global Pitching Research Competition (IGPRC) in 2022 (IGPRC2022) and 2023 (IGPRC2023), the third edition IGPRC2024 is now underway! With generous support from our primary Platinum Sponsors: Elsevier, the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, and the Asia-Pacific Applied Economics Association; we are very pleased to warmly invite all eligible novice researchers to participate.

Core Task

The core task of this competition is to produce a written 1,000-word novel research pitch using the “pitching research” framework, PRF (see the skeleton PRF tool on the following page). This tool provides a simple, methodical device to communicate … confidently/succinctly … all the essential elements of a new research proposal to an academic expert e.g., to your thesis supervisor. For a detailed explanation of the PRF, see the latest version of the SSRN paper “Pitching Research” [Faff (2024)].

Eligibility

  • The competition is open to research-enabled students and ECRs from any discipline: (a) all currently active Higher Degree Research (HDR) students e.g., PhD, research Masters, 4th-year Honours students (thesis-based) & also final-year research-enabled undergraduates; (b) ECRs, within 5 years post PhD graduation
  • Participants must register as InSPiR2eS members (free membership)
  • Research students must complete the free “Pitching Research Matters” Micro-credential Course (PRM MC) on or before the date of submitting their entry and before the closing date (see below)
